Python framework for multi-agent work where each agent has a role and goal and a crew of agents shares a list of tasks.
CrewAI is an open-source Python framework for running several agents together. You define each agent with a role, a goal and a short backstory, give it tools, and assign tasks. A crew runs those tasks in order or with a manager agent that delegates work, and each task's output can feed the next.
For work that needs tighter control, CrewAI also offers Flows, which are event-driven pipelines where you decide exactly which step runs when and can call a crew from inside a step. That split lets teams keep open-ended agent work in one place and fixed business logic in another.
The company behind it sells a hosted platform for deploying and monitoring crews, while the framework itself can run anywhere Python runs. Many teams use it for prototypes because a working crew takes little code. Before production, test how often agents loop or repeat work, and set limits on iterations and tool calls.
