Open-source agent from Block that runs on your machine, edits code, runs commands and connects to tools through MCP.
- Open source
- Can run on your own servers
- Works with MCP
Open-source coding agent that edits code, runs commands and browses in a sandbox, with a hosted cloud version.
OpenHands is an open-source platform for software development agents, maintained by All Hands AI and first released under the name OpenDevin. An OpenHands agent can read and edit files, run shell commands, use a browser and call APIs, all inside a sandboxed container so it does not touch your own machine directly.
You can run it locally with Docker, use the hosted cloud version, or call it from scripts and CI to work on issues and pull requests. It works with models from several providers, so teams can pick the model and keep their own API keys.
Developers use it to hand off routine coding tasks and to study how coding agents behave, since the code is open. As with any agent that runs commands, check which repositories, credentials and network access the sandbox gets, and review every change before merging.
Not enough info yet on developer API, works with MCP. Check the tool's own site.
