Sales and SDR agents

Sales agents take over parts of a sales development rep's day: researching target accounts, writing first-touch emails, following up with leads who went quiet, answering visitors on a website and booking meetings on a rep's calendar. Some work outbound from a list you provide, and others wait for inbound leads and respond within minutes.

Outbound agents raise the most risk. They can send a lot of email quickly, and poor targeting or generic messages can hurt your domain's sending reputation and your brand. Check how the agent chooses who to contact, how it writes and personalizes messages, how many it sends per day, and whether you can review messages before they go out. Make sure it respects unsubscribe requests and the email and privacy rules in the places your prospects live.

Inbound agents are usually easier to start with. A person has already shown interest, and the agent's job is to answer questions, qualify fit and get a meeting booked before the lead goes cold. Ask how the agent hands a conversation to a human rep, what it says when it does not know the answer, and how it records each conversation in your CRM.

3 AI agent tools in sales and sdr agents

11x

Digital sales workers that research accounts, send outreach and answer inbound calls for sales teams.

Qualified

Inbound sales agent for B2B websites that talks with visitors, qualifies them and books meetings with reps.

Conversica

Email and chat agents that follow up with leads and past customers until they are ready to talk to a person.

Measure an agent by meetings that actually happen and turn into pipeline, not by the number of emails sent. A small pilot with one segment and weekly review of the conversations tells you more than any demo.

Keep a person reading a sample of every agent conversation each week, and give that person the authority to pause a campaign when replies turn negative.

Questions about sales and sdr agents

Can a sales agent replace our SDR team?

Most teams use these agents to handle research, follow-ups and first responses so reps can spend more time on live conversations. A full replacement is rarely a good first step; start with one task and measure booked meetings that show up.

Will an outbound agent hurt our email deliverability?

It can if it sends too much to poorly chosen lists. Ask about sending limits, domain warm-up, list quality checks and unsubscribe handling, and watch bounce and spam rates closely during a pilot.

Do these agents update our CRM?

Many connect to common CRMs to log activities and create or update records. Confirm which fields are written, whether it can create duplicate records, and who owns cleanup if it does.

Should prospects be told they are talking to an AI?

Many companies choose to disclose it, and some places have rules about automated communications and AI disclosure. Check the rules where your prospects are, and decide on a clear policy before launch.
